It is crucial for AI technology to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion because these key things allow many different ideas to be represented. Without them specific groups, such as minorities, could be misrepresented and even excluded. Adding diversity, equity, and inclusion fosters equality and will broaden the scale instead of limiting it and would positively impact AI technology by developing a balanced representation for our society . Everyone’s ideas and creativity would be exhibited. the more information that’s generated the better. It’s not listed to just one type.

AI programmed with diversity and acceptance in mind can eliminate biases. It can be sharper at decision making with equity or fairness. AI can be used by anyone. It is crucial to be accepting of others regardless of their background. Everyone deserves to be heard and seen. Humans are responsible for programming it, so it is best that the AI is programmed with unbiased information on different cultures, religions, ethnicities, disabilities, gender identities, etc. It can improve the workplace environment, accommodating and welcoming everyone over all. A more welcoming environment can improve workflow. AI can improve progress in our society and bring justice. We can inspire people to be more tolerant and accepting of those different from them.

It’s crucial for artificial intelligence to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusions because it allows for Artificial Intelligences to have a different perspective that would allow it to respond to the needs of people and help society. With these principles Artificial intelligence can help improve society by improving education and help in the medical field.

The Ecstasy of Influence

In the “Ecstasy of Influence” Jonathan Lethem he questions whether or not culture should be treated as properly and I believe it should not be treated as property because I strongly believe that it should be treated as property because when artists are introduced to all kinds of culture, they are more likely to take inspiration and create something innovative. Claiming ownership of a culture only slows down the process of creativity. Not claiming culture as property opens doors for collaborations between different cultures artists which can in turn bring everyone together as a whole and can result as learning about different cultures. In “Ecstasy of Influence” it states “In fact, it is neither. Rather, copyright is ongoing social negotiation, tenuously forged endlessly revised, and imperfect in its every incarnation.” There are always many copyright issues that arise, and all can simply be avoided by asking the original owner if you can use their art or music. If you use music for example without crediting the rightful owner, that is considered plagiarism and can escalate to the person being sued. I believe that all art belongs to the original creator and can only be used if you have asked for permission and credit them rightfully.

I believe culture shouldn’t be treated like property because that’s how some artists produce. Trying out new things, and having more than one perspective. someone can make something involving another culture that isn’t theirs just as long as it has good intentions and is not offensive.

My response to “The Future of Writing Is A Lot Like Hip-Hop” by Stephen Marche is that AI has its pros and cons. It is able to inspire but has limitations. AI can also learn from pre-existing sources pretty much like how hip-hop is sampled to create new songs and music. The quality may not be the same as a human music artist at first but it can replicate it to the best of its abilities. The article gives a realistic perspective of how AI is not going to destroy creativity. It will be a while until it is fully accepted like photography was back then.

I agree with the article “The Future of Writing Is a Lot Like Hip- Hop” By Stephen Marche. The future of writing is like hip hop because of how easily AI can adapt to reality as time progresses. AI is not entirely 100% original as it depends on reality to have something to work with. To add on, some hip-hop songs today sample songs from years ago. Although there may be conflict over originality, and questions surrounding fresh ideas from AI, Hip-hop can have that same conflict in its target audience. “He was inventing the break. Hip-hop burst out of that moment—a whole new genre, a new style, a new approach to life.” This quote establishes the impact that hip-hop made once it debuted. Furthermore, explaining the attention that Hip-Hop received for the creativity, and how it contrasted with other genres. This pattern is similar as to when AI was first introduced to the media. AI had a different approach to articulating writings, composing music, and more. AI and Hip-Hop both caused controversy to the public as people were confused on where their feelings for both systems stood. “AI is the bogeyman in the shadows: The obscurity, more than anything the monster has actually perpetrated, is the source of loathing and despair.”

opinion

My opinion on the article “The Future of Writing Is a Lot Like Hip-Hop” by Stephen Marche. That AI has changed the whole narrative of creativity and originality. For instance, No longer requiring time to implement or think of ideas. Since society progresses it allows new inventions to be more efficient than humans could have ever accomplished. For example, 20 to 30 years ago, people had to be talented singers or respected lyricists, In today’s generation you no longer need to be talented. You just need autotune and simple help from AI to become a hip-hop artist. This also can be said for the future of writing. No longer a need for creative ideas to write stories, no longer trying to improve on writing, and no longer wishing to be able to write as your favorite author. This all can be achieved with simple AI. Overall, AI has transformed the narrative of creativity and originality by introducing new tools and methods and challenging the ideas of what is creativity and originality.
